Welcome to our practice website. We congratulate you on taking the first step toward better periodontal health. At PerioCentre you are our first priority. Please utilize this website as a resource. It will help you better understand your course of treatment and answer any questions related to periodontal therapy.

Dr. Trudy Nwachukwu is a specialist in periodontics. She specializes in the conservative and surgical treatment of gum disease. She also performs cosmetic procedures to aesthetically enhance your smile, as well as dental implants that can replace single or multiple missing teeth.

At the PerioCentre, we strive to make your visits with us as comfortable and as pleasant as possible. We have an absolute dedication to outstanding patient care. We strongly believe that our patient’s comfort is a crucial part of quality dental care and we will make you feel welcome and comfortable as soon as you step through our front doors.

We work closely with your dentist, but a referral by a dentist is not required to visit our office. We also welcome referrals from patients and friends of our practice.

What Is A Periodontist?
A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease and in the placement and maintenance of dental implants. Periodontists are experts in the treatment of all forms of periodontal disease, including gingivitis, periodontitis, and gingival recession.

Periodontists receive extensive training, including three years of additional education beyond dental school. By choosing a specialist you will benefit from the latest procedures for treating periodontal disease and placing dental implants tailored to your needs. In addition, Dr. Trudy Nwachukwu can perform cosmetic periodontal procedures to help you achieve the smile you desire.

First Visit

At the PerioCentre, we are dedicated to keeping you informed and want you to know what you can expect during your first visit with us.

Your first appointment is a consultation visit. We will review your history, perform an examination, explain your diagnosis, and cover your treatment options.

You will want to bring the following information with you to the consultation appointment:

  • Your referral slip and X-rays if applicable
  • A list of any medications you are taking
  • Any known allergies or medical conditions
  • Medical or Dental insurance to be filed

Occasionally treatment can be done the same day as the consultation. However, complex treatment plans or complicated medical histories will require an evaluation and a second appointment for treatment.

Be sure to let our office know if you have a medical condition that may be a concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves or joints, rheumatic fever, or blood disorders).

If you’ve had X-rays taken in the last six months, please have your dentist forward them to us.

A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under the age of 18 to the PerioCentre.

Scheduling
We are available Monday to Thursdays to help you with your periodontal/dental implant needs. We will make every attempt to schedule your appointment as promptly as possible.

Please allow approximately 30 – 45 minutes for your initial visit.

Financial Policy

Our policy is that payment is due in full at the time of service. For your convenience, we accept cash, debit card, and credit card payment (MasterCard or Visa only).

WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHEQUES AND ALSO DO NOT ACCEPT ASSIGNMENT OF INSURANCE BENEFITS.

We are a non–assignment office, so your insurance cheques will go directly to you and not to our office. For your convenience, our friendly and professional staff will be happy to assist you with the completion and submission of your insurance forms. If you have any questions, please ask our staff. They are well informed and up-to-date. They can be reached by phone at 306-933-2777 or by fax at 306-933-2790.

You are responsible for being knowledgeable about your plan. With many coverages’ specialist fees are higher than most general dental practitioner fees, therefore our fees may not be fully covered by your insurance company. There are as well insurance companies that will only pay fees from the general practitioner’s fee guide and not the specialist periodontal fee guides.

Please remember that once the treatment has been rendered you are fully responsible for all fees charged regardless of your insurance coverage. Dental insurance may offset a portion of the investment that is required for your dental health.

Scheduling

At the PerioCentre, we will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. The length of your appointment will be based on your specific periodontal/dental implant needs.

If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day.
We try to stay on schedule to minimize waiting at the time of your appointment. Referral of emergency patients can cause delays to the schedule, and your understanding and patience are very much appreciated.
